Marc Bitanga has been involved in web design and online marketing since 1995. He’s held online marketing roles on both the in-house and agency side of the industry.
Marc’s expertise includes Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising, social media marketing as well as overall online marketing strategy. He’s assisted startup companies as well as nationally known companies in the tourism, financial and telecommunication industries.
Online Marketing Experience
Marc has been fortunate to work with some pretty great companies. One of his first roles was as a Web Analyst for a company now known as SAP, a Fortune 500 company. Marc helped manage a website that had over 30,000 visits per month. He worked on one of the first implementations of Google Search Appliance; a Google search engine that companies can use for their own websites. This project was his first experience working with search engines learning its algorithm and how it chose which pages to rank first.
Marc also started a B2C ecommerce company focusing on the Canadian market, allowing him to gain experience with website optimization, internet marketing strategy and social networking. The website ranked #1 in Google for a number of targeted keywords, and was featured in Elle Magazine, Canada.com and nearly a dozen other major publications and websites. He sold the company to a private investor in 2008.
In recent years Marc has worked as an in-house SEO Manager for a Suite101.com a popular content website that receives up to 20 million visits annually and had 3,000 active writers. He has also been a search engine marketing strategist for Cossette Communications a national advertising agency, where he worked with well known brands such as Tourism BC, Royal Roads University & Allstream Communications.
